There was some debate regarding the maximum storage capacity for the SD and MicroSD expansion cards.
If you have a nuvi or zumo series, you may use up to a 16GB disk. The StreetPilot series have a maximum capacity of 2GB.

There are 2 types of MicroSD cards :
MicroSD : has a 2G capacity limit
MicroSD HC (High Capacity) : from 4G up to 16G
A MicroSD HC device can use both types.
A MicroSD device in not compatible with the MicroSD HC format
Read your unit's documentation.
If it calls for MicroSD don't go for MicroSD HC.

| An SD-HD card can be larger, but the old "SD" card spec stops at 2GB. If your gizmo says "SD cards" that means 2GB maximum unless you luck out. If the gizmo says "SD-HD" then you should be OK for the larger capacity cards.

| Garmin states that Nuvis can take up to 16 gb cards. Whatever you do, do not try to format the card beforehand, particularly if you have a Mac. I tried and the card would not work until I put it in a Canon digital camera. It worked fine after that when I used it with my Nuvi 760.

| I use a 1460 and it has no limit in the micro SDHC capacity. Currently I'm using a 4GB card and works like a charm. I highly recommend the 14xx series nuvi.

| I'm using a 16GB micro SDHC in my Zumo 660 without problem, but I understand it's important to use a fast memory card if you go for higher capacities or the machines hang. Mines a class 6.
