How I wish the upgraded maps for my unit had advanced lane guidance.
I called Tom Tom support, but was told my unit, (only 12 months old) didn't have the ability to use this feature.
So in 12 months, my unit is old technology?
Not happy, especially when this cost $500.
Will my next gps unit be a TomTom?

| Some older Tomtoms can be hacked to use lane guidance, like the Tomtom ONE XL, all you need is a v8 Navcore and also the map files with the Lane Guidance. Tomtom is only doing it to force people into an upgrade cycle, not to mention especially upsetting people who buy the more expensive units like the GO series.

I know of many people who have hacked and destroyed their TT's. TomTom Home software will not work and TomTom will not repair hacked units.
It's quite simple: Warranty Void if Hacked.

TT Home works fine if you patch the DLL file as well.
