Hi,
I do not have experience with your GPS, I have had a Navman and presently a TomTom but both do not have any way to set the time for the alerts like school zones.

Hi
I don't know of any units which have ability to set time or day for School zones, It is very annoying when it tells you school zones on weekends.

I couldn't agree more with others posting on this subject, wouldn't it be great if the school zone POI's could link to the GPS clock and calendar and sound when the zones are actually active. I guess this would be complex to achieve but is certainly an issue programmers and GPS manufacturers should collaborate over.

I agree that it is time these manufactures of GPS could have the school time zones set so that the alert only comes on when school is in, it is so frustrating for people like me who have no children in school to remember the individual times for each school.

I have a Nuvi 3790T and noticed that during school zone times the speed limit on the affected road is reduced to 40 km per hour through the school zone. The unit does not give any other alert (eg. "ping" or "school zone ahead"). You can get a sound alert using GPS-Data-Team's POI files for school zones. My previous Nuvi 760 used to give an alert "school zone ahead" 24 hours a day, which was a little annoying at 10.00 o'clock at night.

PostPosted: Today    Post subject: School Zone alerts/warnings sounding after road rule hours Reply with quote

I have the Garmin Nuvi 265WT and I am finding the same issue each day I go to work as I go through about 6 school zones at times well past school times and find it annoying.

Has anyone one been able or know if the POI program are able to look at the devices clock in the determination of turning the alert on or off during these timeframes?

I am yet to find a solution.

PostPosted: Today    Post subject: Warnings Reply with quote

Think you guy's are over-reacting a bit. The warnings are there to let you know there is a school zone ahead, so the DRIVER should look out for the warning SIGNS that display the times that those ares have speed control in effect.

The same applies to speed warnings, IT IS our responsibilty to keep a lookout for the speed signs as they can be changed at any time due to road works etc, and your GPS will NEVER be accurate all the time.

You drive, you speed, you pay the fine. Try telling a judge your GPS said it was ok to do 100 in an 80 zone and see what the outcome will be. Rolling Eyes
