I have a Nuvi 350 and the alert voice is barely audible compared to the voice directions. Any way to turn up the volume?

I believe the volume on the voice prompt you downloaded was low. I have tried a number of various voices and found there is a considerable difference in their volumes. They should be better when you finally put them in your unit.

Download any MP3 editor, record your own voice and turn up the volume as much as you want.

I use Audacity MP3 editor.

I also have used the MP3 editor but instead of recording my voice, I copied snippets from audio file (music) and installed them. Keep these very short or they can be come annoying.

You could also use THIS to make custom alert files. If you unit can't play .mp3 It'll make .wav files.

On the Nuvi 760 I find turning on the FM transmission and putting the sound through the car stereo to be an excellent feature.

I have a Nuvi 660 and also find turning on the FM transmitter and putting the sound through the car stereo very good. You can then adjust the volume as loud as you want.
